Bonafide certificate

Issued online, immediately, and verifiable by whoever you give it to.

What is a bonafide certificate?

It is a letter from the college confirming that you are one of its students right now — your name, your department, your programme and the semester you are in. Scholarship offices, bus depots, banks and passport offices ask for it as proof that you are genuinely enrolled.

Ours is issued online. You do not need to visit the office, and you do not need anybody to sign it: every certificate carries a printed code and a square QR code, and whoever you give it to can check it on this website in a few seconds.

Issued immediately

No queue and no waiting once your documents are on file.

Valid for one year

From the day it is issued. The date is printed on it.

Anyone can verify it

A code and a QR on every certificate, checked on this site.

Before you start, have these ready

Scanning or photographing these first makes the whole thing a five-minute job. A clear photograph taken on a phone is fine for the receipt and the letter, as long as every word on it can be read.

JPG or PNG

Passport-size photograph

A recent one on a plain background. It is printed on the certificate, so a selfie or a group photo will not do.

PDF or photo

Term fee receipt

Your most recent one. This is what shows you are on the rolls this term.

PDF or photo

ACPC admission letter

Only if GTU has not issued your enrolment number yet — that is normal for the first two to three months.

Each file may be up to 4 MB.

The four steps

  1. 1

    Register on the website

Once only, and only if you have not already.

Go to the registration form and fill in the four short steps. You will need your GTU enrolment number if you are already studying here, or your ACPC application number from your admission letter if you have just been admitted. Everything is shown back to you before it is sent.

  2. 2

Wait for your department to approve you

    Usually a day or two.

Your head of department checks the registration. When they approve it, the college issues your roll number and emails you a login. Check the inbox of the address you registered with — including the spam folder, once.

  3. 3

Sign in and upload your documents

Once, then they stay on file.

Sign in and go to My documents. Upload a clear passport-size photograph and your latest term fee receipt. If GTU has not issued your enrolment number yet, upload your ACPC admission letter as well.

  4. 4

    Download the certificate

    Immediately, whenever you need one.

Go to Bonafide certificate, choose what it is for — a scholarship or a bus pass, because the wording differs — and download it. It is issued straight away. No queue, no counter, no waiting for a signature.

Checking a certificate is genuine

If somebody has handed you one of our bonafide certificates and you want to be sure of it: scan the square code at the foot of the page, or type the twelve-character code printed beneath it into the page below. You will be shown exactly what the college issued — name, department, semester, and the dates it is good for. No account is needed.

Questions we are asked

I have just been admitted and GTU has not given me an enrolment number. Can I still get one?

Yes. GTU issues that number two to three months after admission, and until it arrives your ACPC application number is used in its place — on the certificate and everywhere else. It is printed under its own name, so nobody reading it is misled. Please add your enrolment number in the portal as soon as GTU gives it to you.

Which semester does it say?

The one you are in now, according to the college’s records. There is no box to choose a semester, because the certificate exists to state what is true today. If the semester on your record is wrong, contact your department office and they will correct it.

How many can I take?

As many as you need, and you can download an old one again at any time. Each is numbered separately. An old certificate keeps saying what it said when it was issued, so it does not quietly change when you are promoted.

Do I need a signature or a stamp on it?

No. It is issued digitally and the note on it says so. What proves it is genuine is the code — which is far harder to forge than a signature, and can be checked in seconds by whoever you give it to.

I have not received my login.

Your login is emailed only after your head of department approves your registration. Check the inbox of the address you registered with, and the spam folder once. If it has been more than a week, contact your department office.

Something on the certificate is wrong.

Your department office keeps your record — please contact them rather than registering a second time. Once they correct it, download a fresh certificate.

Still stuck? Your own department office is the fastest route for anything about your record. For a problem with the website itself, write to website@lecollege.ac.in.
